The once-in-a-lifetime total solar eclipse will be on Monday, April 8, 2024. You've probably heard that humans need special eclipse glasses to see this amazing sight. Then I started wondering about our dogs and cats who might be outside during totality. What if they looked up? Will it damage their eyes?
may cause anxiety
If your dog or kitten gets anxious during thunderstorms or fireworks, sudden changes in light during the day can have the same effect. If you won't be home during a total solar eclipse, it's a good idea to leave out toys and treats to reassure your fur baby. If your pet is outdoors, make sure they are microchipped in case they get scared and try to run away.
Do not bring your pet to a crowded solar eclipse event.

nap time

However, if they sense that something is wrong, they may hide in a small safe place.
