Chicago Bears wide receiver DJ Moore has given his thoughts on trading quarterback Justin Fields to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Ian Rapoport NFL Network reporters announced the shocking news on Saturday, with ESPN's Adam Schefter reporting on the compensation:
Coach Moore has repeatedly made it clear to reporters that he wants Fields back, even though the Bears hold the No. 1 overall draft pick and are in prime position to acquire a quality signal-caller. . definitely Caleb Williams of the University of Southern California;
However, all offseason smoke indicates the Bears will take the next step after three seasons, with Fields now a Steeler and set to serve as Russell Wilson's backup for the duration of the 2024 campaign. Schefter and ESPN reported. brooke pryor.
It's understandable why Moore would want Fields back. Simply put, the two had a great relationship.
In the 13 games Fields started last year, Moore caught 76 passes for 1,153 yards and eight touchdowns. That included an explosive game against the Washington Commanders on 8/230/3.
In the four games Fields sat with a dislocated right thumb, Moore caught just 20 passes for 211 yards and zero scores.
It's easy to see why Moore would want stability with Fields after years of inconsistent quarterback play with the Carolina Panthers. It also helps that he has transformed into a bona fide superstar.
Alas, as Moore said, “business is business” and the Bears moved on. They could (possibly) reset his rookie time with Williams and enjoy much more financial flexibility for four years, while Fields could soon see his big day as his rookie contract expires in 2024. (unless the Steelers pick up his $25 million fifth-year option in 2025).
