NATHITOCHES – Northwestern State fell behind in a close game Sunday afternoon, dropping a 4-3 decision to Louisiana Tech.
The Lady Demons (6-3) debuted a new doubles lineup, but ultimately dropped points on court 1 (6-3) and court 2 (6-4), leaving court 3 unfinished. Ta.
NSU double spare Sophie Garcia and Sarah Elenda It was a close battle on Court 2, but the tech duo of Valentina Vazquez and Tiffany Nash was too much. Jasa Krevisar and Paige Wise We lost 6-3 on court 1.
In singles, NSU won the first set in four.
Bulldog Olga Biensovas defeated Klevisard in straight sets on Court 1, taking a 2-0 lead overall.
Honoka Umeda In the second set, NSU won in straight sets with a dominant performance, 6-6, leading NSU to victory. She cruised to victory, dropping only one game along the way.
Umeda said, “It was hot and windy, so it was tough.'' “But in the second set I was able to calm down and play at my own pace.”
Ayu Ishibashi He was similarly dominant in the first set against Vazquez on Court 3.
In the second set, she led for most of the set, but came back to take the set 7-6 and defeated Vasquez 7-3 in the tiebreak.
Tech secured their third point with a retirement victory on court two.
Elenda won the third set against Zoe Epps to tie the match for NSU. They won the second and third sets 6-2.
The match dragged on until the crucial third set on court 4.
Garcia and Tech's Tiffany Nash went back and forth throughout the game. Garcia won 6-2 to take the first set, but Nash went on a 4-2 run in the second set to take the set and win 6-3 to force a third set.
Nash used that momentum to win the third game 6-2, handing the Lady Demons their first loss at home.
NSU returns to action Wednesday at 11 a.m. against South Alabama to continue a 12-game homestand.
