ESCANABA, Mich. (WJMN) – As January's Pet of the Month, Delta Animal Shelter is featuring two animals looking for forever homes.
First up is Dozer, a large mixed breed male dog who is 5 and a half years old and has been spayed. This loyal and happy boy loves attention and playing outside, and is waiting to find a family who will love and give him back. Dozer's adoption fee is $175 for him.
“He's really sweet,” said adoption specialist Bonnie Bruce. “He loves to play, and he loves treats. These are his favorite things in the world, but treats are always delicious, so I can't blame them. But yeah, he loves treats.” has been with other dogs before. He loves toys. He has been with other dogs in the past before living with cats and has been with people of all ages. He seemed to get along best with females, so although he's a female dog, he'll probably get along just as well as a docile neutered male. Good.”
The next animal to feature in January is Mario, a 3 1/2 year old spayed male domestic cat. This cutie loves cuddling and kissing and is very talkative. Mario's adoption fee is $50.
“He's a very loving person. He's very friendly. And he's a big boy, so he likes to kiss and hug,” Bruce said. “He's looking for a home as a sole pet, but doesn't really like sharing his space with other people. I mean, he's trying to be king of the castle, and that's fine. Each cat has a different personality, but Cat is truly an only child. However, he is a very loving person. He is definitely popular among staff and volunteers. Everyone loves having him around. I love it.”
If you are interested in adopting Mario, you can visit him at the Delta Animal Shelter Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m. If you would like to apply to adopt Dozer, you can do so online at deltanimal.org.
