Canoes, a native of central Pennsylvania, ranks second in continuous service behind captain Steven Birnbaum, who is in his 11th season. He started a career-high 27 games last year and has appeared in 137 regular-season games since joining from German club Hoffenheim in 2017.

Birnbaum, who suffered a setback in his recovery from preseason knee surgery, continues to rehabilitate indoors during team practices. A timetable for his return is yet to be determined, but Lessené said the defender had “made further progress this week”.
Goaltender Tyler Miller, who has been sidelined since shoulder surgery last fall, has returned to training with the other goalies and is a few weeks away from playing full time, Lesene said.

Six weeks into the season, United have finalized plans to restart their radio broadcasts, led by play-by-play announcer Dave Johnson, which will extend the team's streak of television and radio appearances into their 29th season. Bruce Murray rejoins as color commentator.
