Brian Kelly and the LSU football staff were shaken by the promise of the nation's No. 1 wide receiver last August when 2025 prospect Dacorien Moore announced his commitment to the Tigers.
The Texas native quickly became one of this cycle's hottest players after back-to-back dominant performances at powerhouse program Duncanville High School (Texas).
Now, he has committed to the Tigers and continues to headline a class that features the nation's No. 1 quarterback (Bryce Underwood) and No. 1 running back (Harlem Berry).
Even as Moore continues to commit to LSU, he's listening to what other programs have to offer, especially the Texas Longhorns and Oregon Ducks.
After the visit to Texas, rumors began to fly that the Longhorns were giving Moore something to think about committing to Kelly's program. Then came the crystal ball prediction from On3's Eric Narlin that he would be transferred to the Longhorns.
I've spoken with people involved in Moore's recruitment and it appears there's no need to worry about this at this point, but both the Longhorns and Ducks have no plans to worry until the final buzzer when Moore puts pen to paper in December. He will continue to push hard for his success. That's natural.
While Moore remains committed to LSU, this will be one to watch as Moore continues to “flip” these two powerhouse programs.
Can LSU keep the nation's No. 1 receiver in the purple and gold until he puts pen to paper? Only time will tell, but it's clear Moore is intrigued by the opportunity to play with Underwood and LSU's talented 2025 class.

advanced route running
Despite only being a senior in high school, Moore is an exceptional route runner for his age. He is fluid and has the ability to rise vertically in the blink of an eye, which paved the way for him to impress in his sophomore and junior campaigns at Duncanville in both 2022 and 2023.
Moore also showed high-level play in camp this summer. He was a 7-on-7 maniac, giving cornerbacks fits every time he got stopped. Even if the defender thinks he's covered, Moore's twitch leaves him instantly open and able to make plays.

LSU added both Caden Durham and Jelani Watkins to the 2024 freshman class during the current cycle, and both speedsters will run track for the Tigers on campus. Now, purple and gold add to Moore's prominence on the track.
The five-star wide receiver is exceptional in open space, but his ability to switch gears up and down makes him special with vertical movement. He's twitchy off the line, but once he gets his ear downfield, you're lucky to stay in front of him.
ball skills
Moore is able to pinpoint the highest point of the ball and use his athleticism to routinely reel in contested catches. He's a 5-foot-11, 6-footer who won't be someone LSU relies on for jump balls, but he's a guy who can make tough plays when needed.
He progressed entering his senior offseason and his strength showed during his junior campaign. He is a downfield target and he could gain significant yards per catch if utilized correctly. Moore could change the pace and get open vertically, giving the Tigers another elite-level wideout for the future.
