Master of Education Scholarship Recipients at Spring 2023 Luncheon.
The College of Education and Health Professions invites all graduate and undergraduate students to apply for scholarships now by the February 15 deadline.
Current scholarship recipients must also complete a new application this cycle to be eligible for renewal.
“We are grateful to our generous donors for the financial support that has enabled so many of our students to pursue degrees in the nursing professions,” said Dean Kate Mamiseishvili. “It is so gratifying to see how these scholarships change the lives of students.”
To apply, students must complete the U of A General Scholarship Application and the Faculty of Education and Health Professions Application through the AcademicWorks system. Details and important dates can be found on the university's scholarships page.
Once a student submits a completed application, AcademicWorks automatically matches the student with scholarship opportunities that they are eligible to receive.
Each college scholarship has specific criteria based on the wishes of the donor.
Gracie Farmer of Winslow is a first-generation college student and recipient of the Peggy Peyton Hansen Endowed Educational Scholarship. She is studying secondary education and she hopes to teach high school English after she graduates in May. Farmer had her eventful high school years and she believes that she wants to be a positive role model for students in her age group. “I want to be the teacher that my teacher was for me back then,” she said.
Last summer, Farmer wrote a letter to Peyton Hansen thanking her for the scholarship. “Now I can really focus on my studies without worrying about finances,” she wrote. “I am deeply grateful and hope to someday support students like me, just like you.”
After the application period closes, complete applications will be reviewed by the College of Education and Health Professions Scholarship Review and Selection Committee. In most cases, committee recommendations are submitted to the university's scholarship office before the end of the spring semester. Once the final selection is made, the recipient should receive the offer via email.
The scholarship application period is from January 1st to February 15th each year.
