Hey strip.
The couple, who have been on nine clothing-optional cruises, love it but insist they will never sail the standard way again.
“I told my wife I would never go on cruises clothed,” Michael Brown, 56, a former government enforcement officer from Wilmington, Delaware, told SWNS.
Brown and his wife, Laurie, 50, have been nudists for 20 years. They spend most of their time at home wearing their birthday suits. They cook, clean, eat, and raise two children, ages 12 and 14, without clothes.
The two decide to take their NSFW lifestyle to the high seas by joining a sexually pensive cruise chartered specifically for seal-loving Adams and Eve.
“This is the opposite of a clothed cruise,” Michael says matter-of-factly, explaining the appeal of this pastime. “You're paying the price of being naked.”
The pair have taken part in such water bacchanalia every year since setting out on their first nude voyage for a couple's holiday in 2015.
So far, they've donated $40,000 to the No-Pants Pilgrimage, which has taken them everywhere from Aruba to the Dominican Republic.
Their latest seven-day cruise, run by a company called Bare Necessities, departed from Florida and toured Mexico and Honduras, costing the voyaging nudists $2,000 each.
So what to do on this floating nude beach? Basically, you can enjoy all the same cruise activities without clothes: yoga, gym, photo shoots, comedy sets, shows, casino gambling, and more.
Naturists, Michael explained, can also work up a sweat by enjoying the “big slide, water park, putt-putt golf, and running track,” just like nude exercise enthusiasts.
Unfortunately, not all parts of the boat are clothing optional. Voyagers must wear clothing while eating.
“You're asked to be clothed in the sit-down dining room and pay restaurants, but it's okay to be naked at the buffet,” Michael said.
“It seems a little hypocritical to be eating dinner fully clothed at a sushi restaurant and seeing people walking up and down outside naked,” he pointed out.
There are also certain areas where boaters are prohibited from taking photos. Especially the 9th deck with the pool and sun loungers.
Despite the setting being reminiscent of the “Playboy Mansion,” hanky-panky is prohibited on the voyage.
“They're very strict about the fact that this is a naturist environment…there's no sexual activity at all,” Michael warned.
What is the appeal of entertainment? Michael said he feels naked cruisers are much friendlier than clothed cruisers.
“I think people are rude on clothed cruises, and everyone has their face on their phone,” he told reporters. In contrast, these nude cruisers are “very conscious of being polite, helpful and friendly,” he added.
“Many clothed cruisers seek harmony in the ship and the sea, but nude cruises are the opposite,” he added. “It's not about the boat. It's about the people and friends I'm going to meet.”
Michael also claims that he also met two of his best friends on the nude cruise.
This voyage was a high-water mark for Michael, who has been a nudist since childhood.
“My mom was always chasing me around trying to get me dressed,” said the Delawarean, who baptized his wife into the lifestyle.
“My wife was also comfortable with going topless, but not full-on social nudism,” he explained. “So when we got married, she introduced me to her first nude experience and that was pretty much it.”
He added: “She was very apprehensive about it when we got together, but she warmed to the idea right away.”
The couple are also raising their children to be nudists.
“For our children, it was a process that my wife and I collectively agreed to,” he said. “I wanted to raise a well-mannered, well-rounded, body-positive daughter.
In contrast to the striptease-like stigma that surrounds the act, Michael says that taking off one's clothes is instead “removing the mystery and mystique behind it.”
Their training appears to be having the desired effect.
“Our oldest son is 14 and our youngest is 12. They don't look at naked people now,” Michael said.
