Tottenham have reportedly saved money by paying a £2m settlement to release long-serving player Hugo Lloris from his contract before it expires.
The French World Cup winner was paid £2m by club president Daniel Levy in return for an early end to his contract, but Lloris still had six months left on his contract and parted ways.
Lloris completed his move to MLS side LAFC during the winter period.ending an 11-year stay in north London.
Financial expert Kieran Maguire also praised Mr Levy's decision, claiming it would save money and be beneficial to everyone involved.
As reported, daily mailLloris received a payment of £2 million from… tottenham and Maguire said football insider: “If these rumors prove true, I think it would be a win-win for both parties.
“From Spurs' point of view, they are letting go of a player who clearly no longer fits the club.
“The £2m settlement is the equivalent of £4m a year, or £80,000 a week. Lloris was definitely earning more than that as captain of the club.
“So Spurs saved up and Lloris received the money upfront and was free to move to the US.
“Tottenham are making sure they don't have unhappy players on the training ground, so the attitude across the club is more positive.
“So it's a win-win deal for everyone involved.”

Exile Loris by making a deal with Vicario.
lorisHis time at Spurs ended the moment the club opted to sign Guglielmo Vicario from Empoli for a fee of £17.2 million, which now looks like an absolute bargain.
Barring some recent missteps where Vicario was targeted by teams in the corners, the Italian has been sensational for a Tottenham side in transition under Postecoglou.
And with native Fraser Forster remaining as the club's number two, it meant Lloris was no longer needed, despite being an exemplary professional behind the scenes.
Lloris made 447 appearances for Tottenham, but failed to win a silver medal during his time in north London.
