Andy Reid happy with Marquise Brown signing, how the speedy wide receiver fits into Chiefs' offense | CBS Sports
Whether Marquise Brown can be that No. 1 wide receiver remains to be seen, but Reid likes what his newest playmaker brings to Kansas City.
“I think Marquis gives us an element of speed on the outside and inside,” Reid said Monday at the NFL's annual meeting. “He's played everywhere. I think he's a smart kid. He'll complement Lachie. [Rice] and trav [Travis Kelce] good. “
The Chiefs signed Brown to a one-year contract worth up to $7 million, with $6.5 million guaranteed at the time of the deal. Reid is pretty optimistic about what Brown can do for this team, especially since Brown was a 1,000-yard receiver for Lamar Jackson and a reliable target for Kyler Murray.
“He's had a good couple of years,” Reed said. “I like that about him.”

Titans acquire CB Rajarius Snead

Acquiring a cover man who won a Pro Bowl title as a future third-rounder is objectively good value, but there are still some fair questions here: Snead, 27 Will Tennessee really be competitive before he approaches 30 years old in the top of the league? An on-market contract at a notoriously unstable position?

Unobtrusive movements: Re-signs DC Steve Spagnuolo
Spagnuolo had an answer for everything opposing offenses threw at the Chiefs last season. He's great at getting the most out of his players, which is one of the reasons the Chiefs are getting so much value out of many of their late-round defensive draft picks. Players like playing for Spagnuolo because they believe he can put them in a position to succeed. Spagnuolo led the Chiefs to his second-highest scoring defense in the 2023 regular season. The team allowed him 17.3 points per game. — Adam Teicher

kansas city chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs are a much better wide receiver today than they were six months ago, but they can still get even better.
Laci Rice, who was selected in the second round last year, really started to turn a corner in November. After Kansas City's bye week, he had 72 receiving catches, 822 yards, and four touchdowns in the Chiefs' final 11 games, including the postseason.
With Rice establishing himself as the No. 1 WR in their quest for a championship once again, the Chiefs have one less concern at the position. The organization helped itself by signing Marquise Brown to a one-year, $7 million deal, but it's clear he's not in the team's long-term plans.
But he could be valuable, especially since he shares a similar skill set with Brown. These two of his are interchangeable during his 2024 campaign. Still, Worthy comes in with the 32nd overall pick (if he's still on the board) and could provide the Chiefs with the speed they've lacked since trading Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins.
Obviously, Kansas City didn't need Hill to win back-to-back championships. But the field-tilting speed makes life easier, especially for quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who has the arm and playmaking ability to make the most of his record-breaking pace.
Additionally, head coach Andy Reid is one of the best at devising plays that utilize an individual's skill set. The Chiefs could give Worthy some touches early in his career as he grows into a full-time role.
More importantly, the Chiefs have center Creed Humphrey, guard Trey Smith, linebacker Nick Bolton and cornerback Joshua Williams all still active on their rookie contracts.
Chiefs' Travis Kelce wants to invite Aaron Donald to 'one more Super Bowl' despite his recent retirement | CBS Sports
During the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce opened up on recruiting star defensive linemen if he's interested in winning another Super Bowl ring. .
“Shout out to AD. Unbelievable career,” Kelce said. “If we want to win another Super Bowl, we'll probably have an opening sometime in December.”
Donald was able to secure a Super Bowl ring when the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Despite winning the championship, the Rams star opted to come back for two more seasons.
2024 NFL Mock Draft: Cardinals stick with Marvin Harrison Jr., offensive tackle comes off the board | PFF

oregon ducks
There seems to be a new wide receiver coming out of the NFL Draft Industrial Complex every week, and mock drafts end up selecting that player in the top 32 at the expense of another player. Franklin seems to be going out as the odd man out more often these days, and maybe that's how things will ultimately settle down in April, but we're not impressed with Franklin's route-running ability, versatile I love the route tree and the combination of speed and ball tracking at the catch point.
Franklin was caught in highlight reel after highlight reel last season at Oregon, always aware of exactly where he was on the field, whether it was a toe-tap along the sideline or a grab. I was always conscious of whether I would be preparing to take the first step later. A catch to avoid would-be tacklers.
In Kansas City, Franklin's height will add another element to the newly established one-two punch of Lachie Rice and Marquise Brown.

2024 NFL Draft: Strongest position group or weakest? | NFL.com
1) Offensive tackle (26 points)
Other than quarterback, offensive tackle is at the top of the list because it involves a supply and demand issue. The position will likely be overdrafted due to demand, but this season's tackles are strong in both high-end talent and depth when it comes to future quality starters. Teams' draft boards will vary because there are several types of tackles to choose from, but with at least seven tackles selected in the first round and a starter still to be found on day two, quality tackles will be selected in the first round. You should see it last up to 5 rounds.
2) Wide receiver (24.5 points)
Top of the class Marvin Harrison Jr., Malik Nabors, and Roman Odunze have star potential, but many teams still have players like Ladd McConkie, Roman Wilson, and others still available on Day 2. I'm excited about the impressive collection of future starters I can have. , Malachi Coley, Xavier Leggett, Troy Franklin, Ricky Pearsall. Day 3 will feature some prospects who still need polishing, but the hype train is driven by starting-caliber players that each team can choose from within the top 100 picks.
NFL approves rule change to award team's third successful challenge | Bleacher Report
Under the old rules, a team could only make a third challenge if both of the previous two were successful.
The Detroit Lions submitted the changes for evaluation by NFL owners during a league meeting.
Team owners were less receptive to drastic changes to the replay review process. ESPN's Stephen Holder said Sunday there is “minimal momentum” behind the Indianapolis Colts' idea to allow all officiating decisions, including penalties, to be reviewed within the final two minutes of each half. It was reported.
2024 NFL Draft: 10 teams that need a strong class after free agency | USA Today
Los Angeles Chargers
The team, which has won one playoff game in the past 10 seasons, is in the midst of a regime change and is unable to stay above the salary cap, which means the departure of starting receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. But new head coach Jim Harbaugh and general manager Joe Hortis have an opportunity to rethink a team that features five of the top 110 draft picks, including No. 5 overall and No. 37 overall. The No. 5 spot in particular has interesting options, perhaps the best or second-best non-quarterback, or an opportunity to trade out and get a reward that could make it a coveted spot for a team in need of a quarterback. –The Chargers have decided that — no. The supposed turnaround started with Harbaugh's hiring, but it will need to kick into next gear starting April 25th.

On the veteran side, Kansas City will likely want a player with a stronger resume (and more starting experience) than cornerbacks Jalen Watson and Joshua Williams. These include:
Ahkello Witherspoon
former Los Angeles RamsThe cornerback led the Rams defense in cornerback snaps last season, primarily by positioning himself on the outside. 29-year-old He had three interceptions and set a career high with 14 passes defended..
After dealing with an injury while stretching, san francisco 49ers and pittsburgh steelers, Witherspoon had arguably the best season of his career in Los Angeles. In addition to solid coverage statistics, he Set career highs in tackles (52) and tackles for loss (3) In 2023.
spot rack Project Witherspoon to win two-year contract It is worth up to $20 million. (This is after he plays for just over $1 million in 2023). He may be asking for more than the Chiefs are willing to spend, but given how the cornerback market plays out, that number could come down.
