The Health Anchor Network works with hospitals and health systems across the country that have adopted the Anchor Mission framework. David explains: “The core of the anchor strategy is [identifying] Where are the business challenges that intersect with community priorities, and what are the overlapping strategies that can address both? ”
David introduces different approaches, stages, and examples of impact investing and place-based investing. “Them [investment] Dollars can also do double duty in terms of working in your community. So not only are there economic benefits, but there are also social impacts,” he points out.
The impact of such investments on community health is significant. David said: “There's a lot of research that shows the importance of housing for health. There's a lot of research that shows that having a good, stable job is important for health. So we're investing in things that we know will create those things. If so, you are impacting the health and well-being of your community. [And] You can do this without spending valuable discretionary funds needed to provide medical clinical services and other priorities. ”
