ButcherBox announced its entry into the pet space through the ButcherBox for Pet line of dry dog food, treats, and hip and joint supplements.
The ButcherBox for Pet line is built to the same standards as ButcherBox by sourcing humanely raised and sustainably sourced beef and chicken that contains no antibiotics or added hormones. The company says it was developed within a clinical veterinary environment.
“What we learned along the way is that most food and meat companies don't want their brand on the label of the pet food and treats they sell,” said Butcher Box founder and CEO. CEO Mike Salguero said. “We're proud of the work we've put into sourcing high-quality, humanely raised meat for this product line. We want people to know that when they see our brand, it means they can trust where and how it's sourced. ”
ButcherBox For Pets treats and hip and joint supplements have been available to ButcherBox customers for the past year, with sales of these products reaching $750,000, but this expansion marks the line and , a new way to purchase on the ButcherBoxForPets.com website.
Dry food will be available for purchase as a subscription at launch, while treats and supplements will be available as additional purchases.
“Nearly 60% of ButcherBox customers have a dog at home, which was our initial attraction to the pet market,” says Bobby Quirk, president of ButcherBox for Pets. “As a company, we pride ourselves on being able to take feedback from our customers and incorporate it into our research and development processes. Our customers want to give their pets, especially their dogs, the same high-quality products that are their own. They told us they were equally interested in that. This is a classic example of this feedback loop coming full circle.”
Next year, the line will expand to include treats, supplements, meal toppers, additional foods and products for cats.
