Georgia's 2025 recruiting class may be the best in recent memory, with 37 prospects ranked within the top 300 nationally in the latest On300 rankings.
The Bulldogs already have five offers from within the state's borders, and they are expected to be key pieces for a number of other top offers. Among them is the Lions, his four-star safety facility in Toombs County. Lagonza Haywardone of UGA's recent offers.
Heyward, who also has offers from Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama and the University of Southern California, made a big impression on the Bulldogs when he received his offer on Sunday.
Earlier this week, two recruiting officials reflected this with their expert predictions favoring UGA to land the No. 14 recruit in the Peach State.
“Hayward has gotten to know co-defensive coordinator and safeties coach Travaris Robinson pretty well over the past six weeks,” Jake Lowe of DawgsHQ explained about his appointment on Tuesday. “Robinson's first stop was Toombs High School, where he arrived with a four-star talent. Hayward has a number of other programs chasing him and there is high interest in playing wideout. Yeah. Georgia likes Robinson at safety, as evidenced by the placement to take him. My confidence level in this pick is 60%.”
Bulldogs' offer means a lot to in-state star
Few things mean more to a Georgia prospect than an offer from an in-state program that has won two of the past three national titles. UGA's program reminds Hayward of his high school, and he believes choosing the Bulldogs will provide a smooth transition to the college level.
“It's college football. They all have great facilities, but what about Georgia's facility? State of the art. Also, winning is the norm. Competing is the norm,” he told DawgsHQ over the weekend. . “It seems like it would be an easy switch because it's the same thing in Toombs County. It wouldn't be a drastic or drastic change. We compete every day in Toombs County. That doesn't change anything.”
It was all impressive, but it was Robinson who brought the real spark to Georgia and Hayward's relationship, and that could be the key for the Bulldogs in this race.
“Every time I think of T-Rob, I think back to the first time I met him. I came over to visit game day at Bama. I think they were playing at Chattanooga. . The game was over and I was wearing a chain. So was he, but it was hidden. He was also wearing a gold watch with diamonds. He said, “Hey, young bull.'' , I'm sparkling too.'' He had a cool-old-guy vibe,” Hayward said. “Me and him have always chopped it up. He's always calling and checking in on me, but he's always talking nonsense. He's like an old man trying to talk shit, but it's cool. He has a cool personality.”
