GONZALEZ, La. (BRPROUD) — The Highway 621 Outdoor Market, open every Saturday from March to July and October to December, is a vibrant showcase of produce, handmade crafts, and fun for all ages. Provided by.
“Throughout the year, local farmers harvest the finest fruits and vegetables, presenting a rich tapestry of flavors that change with the seasons. From juicy tomatoes and crunchy veggies in the summer to hearty flavors in the fall. Lots of root vegetables and even sweet potatoes,” said owner Jase Templet.
Highway 621 opened in 2016, Templet said. Since then, visitors have explored the various shops selling local grass-fed beef, honey, fresh bread, goat milk soap, and occasionally local pork, chicken, and shrimp.
“In addition to seasonal produce, the market also features a variety of crafts carefully made by local artisans, from handmade wooden crafts and jewelry to handmade soaps, small-batch jams, baked goods, and custom made items. Right down to the home décor, we have something to please every palate and uplift every home,” Templet said.
Since the market is outdoors, Templet recommends checking the weather before heading down Highway 621.
“Pets are allowed to join in the fun as long as they are kept on a leash, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors,” Templet said.
Templet said business hours and product availability may vary depending on the season, but he wants people to experience changing flavors and craftsmanship each time they visit.
