Each week, we spotlight animals looking for forever homes at local shelters.
This week's Big Country Pet of the Week is Smaug.
smaug
Smaug is waiting to meet his new family at the Humane Society of the Palouse. He is a 6-month-old, neutered, 40-pound, growing Pit Bull mix puppy. The shelter staff explains:Wet, energetic, focused, sociable, and playful.
Smaug is a very kind boy who has spent most of his life in a shelter. Smaug still practices his manners, as he practically grew up in his HSoP. We hope he finds a family who has the time to properly train him and help him become the wonderful dog we hope he will become. Smaug came to his HSoP as a very young stray puppy, so we don't know how he will get along with cats or other dogs. He arrived with his siblings, who were already adopted, and got along well with them during playtime. Smaug has been on many walks with our volunteers, but he still doesn't understand exactly how the leash works. He loves to run free outside and likes to chew on harder toys. Smaug, a pitbull mix, requires daily exercise to meet his physical and mental needs. Smaug is a very kind dog with a cheerful personality. He has a healthy curiosity about the world around him and is always keen to make new friends. Smaug has been neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and will be given a microchip with his new owner's information at HSoP. All adoptions include his 7-day fostering period to ensure a proper fit for the entire family.
If you would like to meet Smaug (or his dragon-named brothers), please contact the Palouse Humane Society, 2019 E White Ave., Moscow, Idaho 83843. 208) 883-1166 or Information@humanesocietyofthepalouse.org. The dog adoption fee is $135.
