A 26-year-old B.Tech graduate from Noida was arrested by HAL police for allegedly stealing 24 laptops worth Rs 1 million. INR1 million from a Bangalore-based paid accommodation and software company. HAL police tracked down the suspects using CCTV footage and other evidence after individuals residing in PG complained about missing valuables. According to reports, on March 26, they arrested Jassi Agarwal, a resident of Noida.
According to The Hindu, a police investigation revealed that Jassi is a B.Tech graduate who worked for a while in a private bank before staying at PG for a few days. She would wait for other residents to go on a snack break before entering the room and stealing laptops and other valuables. She then sold the stolen products on the black market in her hometown. Once she returns to Bangalore, she will move to another her PG to do the same. Police told The Hindu that she quit her job about a year ago and focused solely on stealing her high-end equipment.
Earlier, Pune police arrested a 24-year-old IT professional on charges of mobile theft. The accused was Rushikesh Prabhakar Patil of KK Market area and was working in a private company. Patil was arrested by police on suspicion of stealing mobile phones and bags from students appearing for competitive exams in Pune.
The suspect was frequenting the Ram Tekdi Digital Hub test center and had stolen mobile phones and other valuables from students' bags left outside their rooms. The robbery was discovered when one student noticed his bag was missing and another student's cell phone was stolen. The affected students filed a complaint at Wanouri Police Station. Based on information received from the call, police set up a trap and arrested the suspect on the bicycle, who was caught on surveillance camera.
