Los Angeles (AP) –Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez are currently divorced.
Last Tuesday, six months after the 30-year-old pop star filed for divorce from her 28-year-old real estate broker, a Los Angeles Superior Court ruling dissolving their nearly three-year marriage became official.
According to court documents, the two separated more than a year ago. Because the couple had a prenuptial agreement, no children, and no significant legal disputes in their divorce, they were able to proceed through the court system quickly and cleanly.
The terms of the settlement were agreed in October and only required a six-month wait for the judge's order to take effect.
Under the agreement, Grande will pay Gomez a one-time payment of $1.25 million with no future alimony, give her half of the proceeds from the sale of her Los Angeles home, and pay up to $25,000 in legal fees.
As with the majority of California divorces, Grande's petition cites irreconcilable differences as the reason for divorce.
The couple began dating in January 2020 and have been quarantining together during the pandemic. The two appeared together in the video for Justin Bieber's charity single “Stuck With You” in May of the same year, and announced their engagement in December.
Grande and Gomez married in a small private ceremony on May 15, 2021, at their home in Montecito, California.
Florida-born singer and actor Grande released her seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, on March 8th.
She will play the good witch Glinda alongside Cynthia Erivo's Elphaba in the two-part film adaptation of the stage musical Wicked, scheduled for release in November.
