BOSTON (AP) — Two JetBlue planes have been involved in a minor collision at Boston Logan International Airport. An airport authority spokesperson said two Airbus 321 planes were in a de-icing area when the wingtip of one struck the tail of another. No one was hurt. The crash occurred around 6:40 a.m. Thursday, the Federal Aviation Administration said. Passengers from Flights 777 and 551 were transferred to other aircraft. The FAA says the entire incident occurred in a tarmac area controlled by JetBlue. Flights to Las Vegas and Orlando will be operated on other aircraft while those planes are repaired, the airline said.

PITTSOWN, N.Y. (AP) – A 10-car freight train carrying plastic pellets and cooking oil derailed in upstate New York, sending two of the cars into a river, authorities said. Authorities said the cars were part of a 94-car train that derailed Wednesday night in the village of Valley Falls in Rensselaer County. A Berkshire & Eastern Railroad spokeswoman said no injuries were reported and no hazardous materials were involved. He said the two cars that fell into the Husik River leaked small amounts of cooking oil and resin. He said contractors were on the scene and the vehicles should be back on the tracks within hours. Investigation is ongoing.
Texas man sentenced to 180 days in prison for drugging his wife to have an abortion
HOUSTON (AP) – A Texas man who drugged his wife's drink in an attempt to induce an abortion has been sentenced to 180 days in jail, suspended for 10 years. Houston attorney Mason Herring, 39, pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of injury to a child and assault of a pregnant person. Katherine Herring filed for her divorce. She told the court her sentence was not long enough. Katherine Herring said her third child was born about 10 weeks premature and goes to therapy several times a week for developmental issues.

Hexagonal polished pieces of iron taken from the Eiffel Tower will be embedded in the gold, silver and bronze medals that will be worn around the necks of athletes at this year's Summer Games and Paralympics. Game organizers announced the design on Thursday. Each piece of the Eiffel Tower weighs 18 grams. These were cut from girders and other parts that were replaced during the tower's renovation and were kept for safekeeping. The Parisian jewelery company Chaumet designed the medal, and the Paris Mint produced 5,084 pieces.
