A Coruña, Spain (AP) – Cole Braugher arrived in A Coruña, Spain on Thursday, becoming the first American woman to race solo, nonstop, around the world. The 29-year-old is one of more than a dozen sailors taking part in the Global Solo Challenge. Brauer was the youngest and only woman in the group that set sail from A Coruña in October. The race took Brauer around the Cape of Good Hope in Africa and through Australia. She also faced the unpredictable, dangerous and treacherous Cape Horn at the southern tip of South America. This race took her 130 days to complete.

Pilots said the pedals that control the rudder stopped working as the plane rolled off the runway. They could use the nose gear steering wheel to change direction from the runway to high-speed turnoffs.
