ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Humane Society is excitedly wagging its tail to spotlight Barkley as its Pet of the Week.
Berkeley is a charming but mean 2-year-old Schnauzer. Barkley is looking for a home without other pets because of her unique personality and her heart-melting looks.
“He wants to be the only animal in the house because he wants to be king. He's kind of mean to the other dogs we have here. He rides in the car. “She likes to bathe, but she likes being the only animal,” said April Gibson, executive director of the Humane Society.
During the month of April, the shelter is offering special promotions to encourage more pet owners to microchip their pets. You can get a microchip for just $20. It's a small price to pay for the peace of mind that your pet will find a loving home if it ever gets lost.
“Microchipping is one of the best things you can do for an animal other than spaying or neutering. We can rehome these animals. We microchip them every week. We've been able to get animals back to their owners. Things happen. They can get loose, the leash breaks, or things of that nature.” Gibson said. said.
