Jacksonville, Florida – Just one day after News4JAX aired a story about a pack of dogs terrorizing neighborhoods at two apartment complexes in Arlington, animal control identified the dog owners and captured the two dogs.
Residents of the Oak Hammock apartment complex and the Oakwood Villa complex have spoken out about loose dogs being caught on camera attacking and killing their pets.
Karen Harrell said she lost seven of her cats in the brutal attack. Some people said they witnessed dogs attacking people and children.
Residents believed the dog had come from a nearby house.

Jacksonville Animal Control Director Michael Bricker said the video footage helped officers identify the two dogs and track down their owners.
“He didn't work with us. But we worked with the property owner and said those two dogs were two dogs that the person living on the property wanted to have any more.” Instead, we were able to identify the two animals in question,” Bricker told News4JAX.
It turns out the dogs came from the house next door to Oak Hammock Apartments.
“I had two dogs, but my friend abandoned them and I got stuck with them. I didn't know I would be out of medication for so long. I hope someone has informed me about this situation. “They should have told me. The dogs are leaving and I'm worried about what's going on,” said the dog's owner, who did not want to be identified.
He said he was unaware that his dog was in multiple videos attacking Harrell's cat.
“He came in today and apologized for what happened and claimed he didn’t know what his dog was doing. “I told them it was really difficult to accept that,” Harrell said.
Animal control said they were unable to positively identify the remaining dogs as the same attack animal seen in the video, so they were unable to remove all the dogs from the property.
“I think this issue has been resolved, but this matter is not over yet. There are certainly some things that need to be discussed with the owners,” Bricker said.
The owner said he has two of the remaining dogs and plans to take more responsibility in their care.
“Now you have to take them out on a leash. They won't be able to just hang out anymore,” he said.
Harrell said she was satisfied that animal control intervened to make the area safe again.
“I'm so happy that animal control has finally given us peace of mind and safety. Our animals may be safe now, and our children and adults may be safe too.” she said.
This incident is under investigation.
Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the owner could face charges or criminal charges.
