A passenger and his dog who were accidentally left behind on a flight from North Carolina to Seattle after fleeing the airport were reunited Thursday, Alaska Airlines said.
The dog, named Moose, was supposed to board a flight with his owner from Raleigh-Durham International Airport on Tuesday night, but a “stowage error” caused the dog to exit the plane, an airline spokesperson said. A representative told FOX News. Digital.
Muth stayed overnight at the airport with airline staff and was taken for a walk in the morning before his flight to Seattle.
According to the airline, when staff tried to load the moose into a crate, the dog pulled away, shook off its collar and fled.
The moose's owner flew back to Raleigh on Wednesday afternoon to help with the rescue amid a massive search for the lost dog.
On Thursday morning, airport fire and rescue crews found the moose safely and brought the owner to the dog.
“We are pleased to report that the dog was safely returned to its parents this morning,” the airline said in a statement. “The airport fire and rescue team picked up the owner, who was searching in another area, and took him to the moose. She convinced him and he was safe.”
Airport K-9 personnel fed the moose before it departed with its owner.
