A program launched by Guilford County Animal Services is asking Guilford County residents to use their detective skills to reunite lost animals with their owners.
The initiative, called the “Animal Services Pet Detective Program,” is a new volunteer initiative that encourages animal lovers across the county to work with shelters and work together for a good cause.
The Pet Detective program uses the internet (social media sites, websites, neighborhood sites) and the NextDoor app to find pet owners.
People participating in this charitable online effort post photos and lost property reports of lost pets and, along with other program participants, try to find matches from owners who post descriptions and photos of their lost pets. .
For example, the dog pictured above was picked up by Animal Services on March 30th and is currently looking for a home.
Guilford County Animal Services is seeking as many participants as possible to participate in the Pet Detective Program. The more people in our county who search for, share and cross-reference pet information and photos, the more likely we are to find lost pets. Pets back home.
No special training is required to help distressed animals or grieving owners. The first step is to join the Guilford County Animal Services Pet Detective Facebook group. Let's start there.
Animal Services posts photos of missing, found and stray animals. This is so detectives can access and share the post widely so that someone can recognize the pet and know who it belongs to or belongs to. can.
Animals Services is also asking the public to post lost or found pets directly to its Facebook page, as well as photos of lost animals posted on utility poles or elsewhere.
