Virginia Tech's Accessible Technologies group regularly hosts workshops on topics related to assistive technology and web and document accessibility. Workshops are offered through the TLOS Professional Development Network (PDN) to faculty, graduate students, and individual groups upon request. Participants will learn about tools and techniques for creating accessible materials and gain hands-on experience designing and creating accessible and inclusive learning environments. The PDN Accessibility Champion Pathway offers her four self-paced learning opportunities focused on fostering a more inclusive learning environment. Participants who complete the pathway will earn an Accessibility Champion certificate.
Additionally, Virginia Tech provides access to the LinkedIn Learning online video training library (VT PID login required), which offers modules and complete courses on topics related to web and document accessibility.
Virginia Tech Accessibility Awareness Week is modeled after Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Our goal this week is to provide learning opportunities and resources for our campus community to think, discuss, learn, and take action regarding digital and physical accessibility. The week is sponsored by the Office of Equity and Accessibility, Campus Accessibility Working Group, and Technology-Enhanced Learning and Online Strategies.
