It's not easy to make a living from food delivery and most food delivery operators rely on tips to survive. Recently, YouTuber Stephen Shapiro made a video where he surprised many food delivery workers by giving them a hefty tip of US$500 (approximately Rs. 41,000). Stephen first placed his order with DoorDash, the largest food delivery app in the U.S., but instead of having the driver drive him home, he met the driver right outside the restaurant to pick up his order. Then Stephen accepted the order and gave them a generous tip.
In front of the restaurant, the YouTuber gave an excuse as to why he ordered on the app. He told one person that he was not allowed to meet the person at the restaurant's counter, while another delivery worker said he had extreme social anxiety and avoided talking to restaurant staff. I told him there was one. While many delivery workers accepted large tips, a few expressed hesitation due to being overwhelmed.
The retired nurse, who worked as a DoorDash agent, initially refused to accept the tip. When she saw the cash, she said, “That's too much.” Through his videos, Stephen met many people in need of financial assistance. An old man told him that he was using the money he earned from DoorDash to support the local baseball team. Needless to say, Stephen made many people's days.
This video has been viewed over 200,000 times since it was posted on March 24, 2024. Commenting on his video, one YouTube user wrote, “The nurse was so nice and understanding!” She was so happy she was chosen to receive that money! “I love that guy who works at DoorDash just to support the local baseball team. And when you happen to meet him and get a big ticket, The fact that I tipped was a full circle moment, I know,” one person commented. The kids will enjoy that baseball equipment. ”
Many people praised Stephen for helping people aspire to create YouTube videos. One person wrote: “This is one of the most heartfelt videos ever. It's always great to see you make someone's day better!” Another said, “Spread awareness… Thank you for that and for showing us the struggles that real Americans have been going through these past few years.”
