Bandar Lampung, Lampung (ANTARA) – The Indonesian Pediatricians Association (IDAI) said adopting a healthy lifestyle from an early age may help prevent cardiometabolic diseases in children.
“Diseases that commonly affect adults now also affect children. Hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease, and stroke are among the most dangerous cardiometabolic conditions for children,” said IDAI President Piprim Basara Yanuarso. It is a disease. He explained that pediatric cardiometabolic diseases are usually caused by an unhealthy lifestyle, so the main way to overcome them is to adopt healthy behaviors.
“This lifestyle disease can only be overcome by lifestyle changes and cannot be cured with medicines. Therefore, children must be encouraged to adopt a healthy lifestyle from an early age,” he said. Told.
Healthy lifestyle practices that can be applied from an early age to prevent cardiometabolic diseases include increasing physical activity, getting enough sleep, eating healthy foods, and increasing water intake. It is included.
“We need to take prevention from the upstream level by encouraging children to lead healthy lifestyles, because it's cheaper and easier. Downstream, the cost of hospital care is transferred to state health insurance companies ( “The burden of dealing with patients with these diseases will be higher,” he explained.
He said if the public does not anticipate these diseases, the health of future generations will be at risk.
“In addition to dealing with new infectious diseases in Indonesia, there are also worrying risks of non-communicable diseases. If they are not anticipated, health quality will be a concern,” he added.
