ST. George — Get ready to lace up for the first-ever I Love Pet Fun Run at Tonaquinto Park on Saturday, February 10th at 10am.
This event welcomes all pets that bark, meow, slide and run. Participants can choose from a variety of distances, including a 10k, 5k, or almost 1-mile fun run walk-n-roll.
“It's more than just a run; it's a fun journey filled with footprints, laughter, and sharing the love of pets,” said Aaron Mettler, recreation manager for races and events for the City of St. George, in a news release. “Tail-wagging fun awaits. Spend an unforgettable morning full of fun experiences with your beloved pet.”
All ages are welcome to join us as we celebrate the bond between humans and animals. Don't have any pets? no problem. Attendees without pets can dress up in any creature costume and take part in this unique adventure that highlights the new Rainbow Bridge Pet His Memorial at the Tonaquinto Nature Center.
Registered participants will receive a shirt. Their pets are given bandanas. All finishers will take home a medal.
“We are capping this race at 150 participants and are approaching that limit, so we encourage anyone interested to register now,” Mettler added.
Tonaquinto Park, located at 1851 S. Dixie Drive, is a vibrant park with plenty of shade, according to a news release. This 33-acre community park features eight tournament-quality tennis courts, two covered pavilions, picnic tables, barbecue facilities, a shaded children's play area, sand volleyball courts, restrooms, a Tonaquinto Nature Center, and much more.
