Promises2Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to creating brighter futures for current and former foster children in San Diego County, is offering new, unwrapped gifts for foster children in San Diego this holiday season, according to a news release. They say they have collected more than 10,000 gift cards and more than $12,000 worth of gift cards.
The Give From Your Heart Holiday Gift Drive, hosted by Carmel Mountain Preschool, called on the community to join in supporting foster children this holiday season. Additional support for gift activities was provided by Boyer Moving & Storage and ICW Group Insurance Companies.
Throughout December, our community generously donated unwrapped gifts and gift cards that were dropped off at Promises2Kids, Carmel Mountain Preschool, and other designated drop-off locations. Donations were organized in a warehouse and social workers and caregivers were invited to choose gifts for foster children.
“Promises2Kids CEO Tonya Torosian said in a news release. “In many cases, this is the only gift foster children receive during the holidays. We spread hope and cheer to San Diego's foster youth.”
Each year, Promises2Kids engages more than 2,000 current and former foster youth in San Diego County to address the circumstances that led them to foster care, overcome past challenges, and grow into healthy, successful adults. We provide the tools, opportunities, and guidance you need.
