We have been working with Amina and Simar for over 10 years and have a deep understanding of her unique design aesthetic and charming personality. When tasked with designing Simar Dugal's legacy store, the designer worked closely with his girlfriend Arjan Dugal, the brand's creative head and director, to realize a clear vision. While maintaining the soul of Simar Dugal's aesthetic – modern Indian fashion with a maximalist style, Amina has injected modern functionality into the 'Indian style' of her store. Amina and her interior design team started with the bare shell and meticulously crafted every element, from the partitions to the final product. result? Her 360-degree visual transformation harmoniously blends luxury and innovation, condensing the essence of the late designer's vision.
As you enter, a grand arch beckons to your left, revealing an enchanting bridal area. Meanwhile, a seamless 90-degree right turn reveals the vibrant Festival and Preto collections. At the heart of this spatial configuration stands a vintage billing counter adorned with a dramatic phulkari backdrop, making it a welcoming focal point. His two changing rooms, strategically placed adjacent to each other, integrate seamlessly with the bridal and pret sections to enhance the experiential journey. Additionally, the store is divided into three distinct sections: Bridal, Festival and Pret, each carefully crafted to provide a unique experience while seamlessly connecting with the overall brand narrative.
Despite the sections, the entire store is held together by a common black floor, walls layered with modern yet vintage furniture, textiles, ikat designs, and upholstered art. Adopting a design language of continuity and unity, the entire store is cleverly divided by a series of graceful arches. This interior choreography ensures a fluid exploration of each carefully selected section, encapsulating a cohesive and inviting atmosphere. Attention to detail creates Simard Dugal's signature raw, organic look, including brocade upholstered dummies, dull gold pendant lights, Martaban jars and pots on the walls, and lime paint throughout the store.
