COLERAINE, Minn. — The Michigan Tech Huskies Nordic Ski Team had a successful weekend at the Coleraine CXC Cup in Coleraine, Minn., earning the CCSA women's first win of the season and top spot for Colin Freed. He drew attention by bending forward. Freestyle interval start.
“Really excited to see the women's team win the two-day title by just one point. Jasper Johnston had a breakthrough weekend with two top-10 finishes, was one of the scorers in the skate race, and set a career best in the distance race. The newest member of the team, Sinne Harheim, had two very strong performances in Sunday's race to fight for podium places. Annabelle Needham is just doing her thing and being the leader that we need and is showing an incredible fight in both races this weekend, and Olivia Raven as well in both races this weekend. She had a solid race and it was great to see her consistency and fast racing. Finally, Wes Campbell deserves praise for leading the men's team in Sunday's race and showing a tight sprint to the finish, but he also performed well in qualifying, showing that he is in top form, which is a sign of the World Junior Championships. This should give him good confidence heading into the competition. ”
Saturday's freestyle interval start saw the Nordic Huskies score three podium finishes between the two teams, with Freed winning the men's division by more than eight seconds (18:04.0). Annabelle Needham won the women's race and Raven took home the bronze medal.
For the girls, freshmen Shinne Harheim and Greta Hansen rounded out the top 10, finishing fifth and seventh respectively.
The men's team also performed well, following the lead in Freed. Campbell (4th), Johnston (6th), Skylar Patten (7th), Henry Snyder (8th) and Tryg Solberg (10th) showed true collective racing on the five-lap course.
In Sunday's classic mass start, Needham won the silver medal with a time of 47 minutes, 13.8 seconds, winning by more than 22 seconds. She was followed by a quintet of huskies: Harheim (4th), Raven (7th), Marie Solveld Wangen (8th), Alice McKnight (9th) and Hansen (10th).
Campbell finished fifth, just 2.4 seconds off the podium, becoming the first Husky to finish in the men's race. The Huskies' ability was on display once again, with Michigan Tech skiers taking 7th through 11th place. Skylar Patten led a pack of five Huskies to a seventh-place finish, with Fried (eighth), Mikkel Katler (ninth), Johnston (10th) and Tryg Solberg (11th) rounding out the high-tech cluster. Ta.

The Nordic Huskies will be back in action next week, traveling to Brillion, Wis., for the Ariens CCSA Skate Interval Start invitational on Saturday and the classic team sprint on Sunday.
