Small businesses in Shelby County are struggling to stay open this week between weather and water. But in DeSoto County, restaurateurs are actually seeing a surge in business ahead of the first-ever DeSoto County Dining Week.

“I equate last business week to the first week of the COVID-19 shutdown when we didn't know what to do. We literally couldn't do business,” Tatum said. Told.
As the snow on the roads began to melt, Tatum, owner of nearby Buon Chibo, said business began to boom.
“We saw a huge increase in business on Saturday,” Tatum said.
Some of these customers are MLGW customers in Shelby County; Recommendation to boil water. Josh Belencia, owner of Buon Chibo, said he was disappointed to hear about the water crisis in Shelby County.
“It's disgusting for Shelby County, but I believe people will come here,” Velencia said.
After a very slow week, both owners are grateful for the timing of the first DeSoto County Dining Week and are pleased to be able to safely serve the community again.
“I hope the word gets out and people come out and support their hometown this week and every week,” Velencia said.
“Shop local and support local in every way. There are so many great restaurants during DeSoto County Dining Week, so be sure to check them all out,” Tatum said.
DeSoto County Dining Week begins Saturday, January 22nd and ends Saturday, January 27th.
