The year is 2024. No matter how creative and organized you are, I don't think it's possible to maintain a successful career without really solid technology tools to help you.
This is especially true for freelancers. If you're a 9-to-5 employee, you probably have a list of tools that your entire company uses. But if you're a freelancer, you're responsible for building your own stack.
As a content strategist, writer (and casual internet content creator), I think I've discovered the perfect set of tools to keep my freelance business organized and thriving.
The inside looks like this.
Found — Business Bank Account
I'm a big proponent of keeping your freelance business finances separate from your personal finances. This will help you keep track of your income, expenses, taxes, etc.
Rather than opening a regular bank account, we recommend getting a bank account specifically for self-employed people.
I've been using Found for probably 2 years and it's been everything I needed and more.
Here's what you can do:
- track your income
- track your spending
- Quarterly tax estimates and autosaves
- Pay your quarterly taxes directly through the platform
- Send invoice + receive payment
- Payments to subcontractors
The first time I had to hire a tax consultant to help me file on the side before going freelance full-time, they were very impressed with how organized everything was. Ta. And that was literally just using Found.
