In a tear-jerking video posted to TikTok in January, a woman shares how she went from being a reluctant pet owner to completely devoted to her cat.
For TikToker (@marygrxx), the concept of owning a cat was not only unappealing, but completely unthinkable. But, as it often does, life had other plans.
She shared how their relationship blossomed in a heartwarming social media clip that has been viewed more than 3 million times so far.
The TikToker filmed herself gently petting her new furbaby, who some suspect is an American Shorthair breed, relaxing in her arms and purring.
The sweet clip, played to Mitsuki's “My Love Mine All Mine,” which went viral on the app, captured the warm bond between a once-reluctant cat and its owner.
”[Point of view] You never wanted to own a cat, but you still gave it a chance,” she said.
The post, which was shared to TikTok on January 2nd, was captioned, “My heart is full.”
Viewers moved by the video saw it as a sign that most people can open up to animals with just a small nudge, or in this case, a meow. I accepted it.
In the comments section of the post, some people spoke out in defense of stray and neglected animals and the bundles of love and joy they bring.
“I will never understand how people can ignore and abuse this beautiful animal,” wrote one TikTok user who goes by the name @idkhun_.
Another user, @athirkhalilieh, added: “There's no way someone wouldn't want a cat.”
“If you know how to communicate with them, they'll be the most cuddly, clingy companions you can imagine,” another TikToker, @b1gsbyy, shared.
Another user @annabfth commented: “I would give him my life, not just a chance.”
“My father was never around when I was a child. [My] My mother worked day and night. From an early age she had animals. She never felt empty,” another user @munzstar wrote.
The creator of this video started his account in January by posting short videos of his cat. Since then, her feed has been filled with cat clips showing the heartwarming bond between the unlikely pair.
She wrote “Received cat spam” in her account profile.
