FAYETTEVILLE — A midweek showdown is scheduled between the second-place Arkansas Razorbacks (30-5, 12-3 SEC) and the Texas Tech Red Raiders (26-11, 9-9 Big 12). The game is scheduled to be broadcast nationally on Tuesday from Baum-Walker Stadium. .
Tuesday's matchup, the first of the two-game set, will be broadcast on ESPN2 with play-by-play coverage by Karl Ravetch and additional analysis by Kyle Peterson.
Arkansas lost two of three games against Alabama, its first series loss of the year, and both teams lost series over the weekend, with Texas Tech dropping two games against TCU on Saturday and Sunday.
The Razorbacks are scheduled to start sophomore right-hander Ben Bybee (2-0, 1.00 ERA) and sophomore left-hander Zach Erdman (0-0, 7.24 ERA) in Tuesday's game against the Red Raiders.
“I just want to play well,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said Sunday. “I think it's great that we can play against a good team, a Power Five team, a big name, a lot of tradition. After losing two straight, I think this is probably the best thing that could happen to us. We played well. We've got to do it, or we're us.'' We're going to lose again, but I think it's good for this team and they need to play well.''
Arkansas is on a program-best 23-game winning streak at Baum-Walker Stadium, while the Hogs are 25-1 at home this season, while Texas Tech has a 6-6 road record on the year.
Tuesday will be the first meeting between the Southwest Conference rivals since 2021. The last two games before the Arkansas-Tech game were played in Omaha in the College World Series in 2018 and 2019. The Red Raiders lost to Arkansas in 2018, but came back by one point. In 2019, they beat the Hogs 5-4.
Razorback catcher Hudson White and left-handed pitcher Mason Molina both transferred from Texas Tech and each spent the past two seasons with the Red Raiders.
Arkansas is 7-0 in midweek games this season, including wins over Grambling, UCA, Oral Roberts, Little Rock, and Arkansas State, as well as a midweek series against San Jose State a week ago. Contains a sweep.
