The company unveiled a series of blank yellow and red billboards in the Netherlands, without even the McDonald's golden arches logo. However, the marketing creative behind the campaign doesn't think it's necessary to let users know what's being promoted. A message can be conveyed just by smell.
“At first glance, it looks like nothing, but when passersby come within five meters, the distinctive aroma of McDonald's fries wafts from inside the sign,” the company said. press release.
The signs were “strategically placed” within 650 feet of some restaurants, the statement said.
