VALDOSTA — Valdosta State University's nine-member University Marketing and Communications team earned gold, silver and bronze honors at the 2024 University Advertising Awards.
“These awards are a testament to the incredible talent, hard work, and resourcefulness of all members of VSU’s University Marketing and Communications team,” said University Chief Executive Melinda Harbaugh.
“This is a small team formed at the end of 2022 and tasked by President Carvajal with the marketing and branding of the university. In just over a year, we have launched a new branding and national campaign. What we need to do There's still a lot left and room to grow, but I can't wait to see what this team accomplishes next year.”
VSU received recognition in the following categories:
• Gold Award for Internet Advertising Series — All Real All You Campaign
• Gold Award, Signage Design — New York City Time Square Digital Signage
• Gold Award, Direct Mail Series — Admission Search Piece, Junior Postcard, and Fulfillment Postcard.
• Silver Award, Special Video Production Series — Basketball Hype Video, Spring 2023 Commencement, Blazer Football Hype
• Bronze Award, Poster/Display — Odum Library Mural
The Collegiate Advertising Awards is a national program designed to recognize excellence in marketing and advertising specific to the higher education sector. This year's entries were judged on creativity, layout and design, typography, production, quality, and overall effectiveness.
VSU's University Marketing and Communications team consists of Robbyn DeSpain, Melinda Harbaugh, Paul Leavy, Graham Nguyen, Dan Oppel, Jessica Pope, Steven Sauls, Rosemary Sirmans, and Angie Strealy. VSU students who will work with the team during the 2023-2024 academic year are Sara Castro, Madison Connolly, Carvince Francois, Thomas Frost and Louisa Garrett.
