The City of Minden is excited to announce the first Pet Mayor Election and invites the community to participate in this exciting event. Pet owners are encouraged to nominate their furry companions for a chance to win the title of Pet Mayor, Paw Lice Chief, Fur Chief, or esteemed Pet Council member.
All pets, including cats, dogs, and other beloved companions, are eligible to run for this prestigious honor. Candidates are asked to submit adorable photos for public voting, and each pet entry will earn her a $25 donation. Additionally, local businesses have the opportunity to show their support by sponsoring pets on a variety of levels.
Top dog level: $1,000
PAW-SOME Level: $500
O-PURR-TUNITY Level: $250
Pet sponsor: $25
Voting will begin in May and candidates will be chosen in order of popularity. The winning pet will receive the prestigious title of Mayor, with subsequent roles including Lice Chief and Fur Chief. Pets from 4th place to her 8th place will get a seat on the pet council.
Proceeds from this event will support the Minden Animal Shelter, with plans underway to build a new facility designed to provide comfort and safety for animals awaiting their forever homes.
