CU Insights, a new marketing research club, has put together a dynamic research week this spring featuring a market research speaker panel, guest speakers, and an interactive market research case study competition. Students were invited to participate in the event to showcase their skills and abilities to analyze data, expand their network, and collaborate with other students with similar interests.
This week we started with Mike Courtney, CEO and Founder of Aperio Insights. He spoke to the students about the importance of innovation in marketing. Later in the week, Tricia Houston, founder of ExperienceBuilt Group, spoke more about customer experience. Mr. Houston spoke about the value of customer experience and emphasized its impact on business.
The market research panel included industry experts who shared their perspectives and insights on current marketing research trends. Ryan Cantor, Georgia-Pacific Senior Research Manager. Kristy Ward, SKIM Senior Research Manager. Sam Pendergist, Director, Kantar. Maria Blount, Coca-Cola's RGM Insight, all served as a panel speaker during the event. Students had the opportunity to participate in the discussion during the Q&A portion and gained valuable information from the panel based on their own experiences in the business world.
To cap off an exciting week of learning from speakers and participating in networking opportunities, CU Insights hosted a case study competition. “The Marketing Research Competition was designed to provide students with an opportunity to address a real-world marketing problem: customer churn,” said Danny Weathers, Dean of the Department of Marketing. “This encouraged students to find ways to structure their data so it could support sound marketing decisions, and allowed students to learn research techniques from faculty.”
