The company plans to begin operating a liquefied CO2 carrier for Northern Lights this year, which is “the world's first full-scale CCS project,” and announced that it has established a dedicated team to ensure the safe and reliable operation of the liquefied CO2 carrier. .
K-Line has signed charter agreements with three LCO2 carriers under the Northern Lights project, a joint venture involving energy giants Shell, Equinor and Total Energy. The new ship combines LNG propulsion with wind-assisted technology and air lubrication and is being built at Dalian Shipbuilding Offshore (DSOC) in China.
Regarding Japan Gas Line, particularly regarding the CCS project, K-Line pointed out that Japan is contracted to operate and manage liquefied CO2 carriers, and is developing low-temperature, low-pressure liquefied CO2 operation and cargo handling technology. .
