The Redwood Empire Quilters Guild will hold its monthly meeting Thursday at the Humboldt Grange, 5845 Humboldt Hill Road, Eureka.
Social time begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. A program on collage quilts will be presented by Sally Frey. The conference will also allow attendees to register for workshops to be held this Friday and Saturday.

The California State University Humboldt Department of History will hold its annual Undergraduate History Conference this Friday and Saturday.
On Friday, keynote speaker Professor Britta McEwen will present “Emotions and Fascism: Using the History of Emotions to Explore Europe in the 1930s” in Founders Hall 163 on the Cal Poly Humboldt Campus in Arcata from 5 p.m. ” Discuss. Ms. McEwen is an associate professor of history and director of the Women's and Gender Studies Program at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. Her research interests include gender and sexuality, the history of emotions, and modern Austria.
On Saturday, UC Humboldt students will present research projects on a variety of historical topics in Founders Hall 108 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

documentation training
Sanctuary Forest will hold its 2024 training on April 7th.
This free training will prepare volunteers to represent Sanctuary Forest and assist hike leaders on one or more of the nine hikes this summer. Hikes range from easy to difficult and cover a wide range of topics, including medicinal and edible plants, wildflower ID, great Lost Coast locations, birding, forestry, and restoration.
Throughout the day, participants will learn how to lead starting and ending circles, assist hike leaders, track hikers, and more. First aid training is also available.
All hikes have two or more leaders and responsibilities are shared. No past experience required. Everyone is welcome.

About genealogy
The Redwood Genealogical Society Speaker Luncheon will be held at 11:30 a.m. April 10 at Locha's Mexican Restaurant, 751 S. Fortuna Blvd., Fortuna.
The program begins at noon with Ben Shepherd speaking about “Early Trails to Humboldt County and Their Purpose.”
These meetings are free and open to the public. An optional lunch of two tacos, chips and a drink is available for $15 including tax.
