HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) – Authorities are investigating a tragic double murder after two people were found shot to death at a store in the Highland Springs area of Henrico County just before 5 a.m. Friday.
According to Henrico County Police, shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday, March 29, officers responded to a 911 call and found two bodies on the property of T's Towing at 907 East Nine Mile Road.
Dozens of people stood along Nine Mile Road Friday morning as police worked on the scene, less than a half-mile from Highland Springs High School.
One of the victims has been identified as an adult male, but police have not released information about the identity of the second victim.
8News spoke with Famous Brown, owner of Famous Brown's Auto, which is adjacent to T's Towing. Brown, a longtime resident of the Highland Springs area, said the incident was an outlier given the area's history of safety.
“That should never have happened in this neighborhood. This is a good neighborhood,” Brown said. “People get along better here.”
Brown said she hopes this will bring the community together as they grieve the loss.
“Highland Springs High School is right behind us and our kids go to daycare next door,” Brown said. “And the kids walk by here every day when they get home from school. There's no problem with this community.”
Anyone with information regarding this double homicide is asked to call Henrico Police at 804-501-5000.
