The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health will hold a community meeting tomorrow morning to hear from residents about the county's harm reduction syringe service program. This will be a hybrid meeting that includes in-person participation and virtual participation via Zoom.
Friday, March 29th from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Zev Yaroslavsky Family Support Center, located on the first floor of the Joshua and Sequoia Conference Rooms, 7555 Van Nuys Blvd, Van Nuys, CA 91405. ) will be held.
According to an email sent by Downtown Santa Monica (DTSM), seating is limited for in-person attendees and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Virtual attendees can register to watch the meeting using this link.
Residents attending the meeting will have the opportunity to provide comments directly in the public comment portion of the agenda.
Residents who are unable to attend the meeting in person or who wish to provide comments in advance may submit comments related to the LA County Harm Reduction Syringe Services Program through this web form.
This controversial issue was raised at the last City Council meeting on March 19th. In a predictable 4-3 split along partisan lines, councilors prepared a resolution expressing the city's disapproval of Los Angeles County's implementation of the ordinance, to be submitted for council approval within 30 days. It was decided that. Santa Monica's “Harm Reduction Services” program, or “Needle Exchange Program.”
