LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech University will celebrate Fulbright Day throughout the day on Thursday, March 28, at various locations on campus and sponsored by International Affairs.
Provost Lawrence Schovanek, Provost Ron Hendrick, Vice Provost for Research and Innovation Joseph Heppert, and Vice Provost Trejos Castillo will speak, according to a press release.
Texas Tech University will host an information session about Fulbright Scholars, Fulbright Specialists, International Education Programs, and Fulbright U.S. Student Programs. It also provides information on international travel for those who teach or study abroad.
Vice Chancellor Trejos Castillo described what this program means to the Red Raiders and emphasized how the Fulbright program has brought together many different cultures.
“Fulbright is the world's most prestigious international educational and cultural exchange program, bringing together the brightest scholars, students, and professionals from all fields,” said Trejos-Castillos.
“Since 1957, the Texas Tech University-Fulbright relationship has spanned more than 68 countries and represents a positive and enduring relationship that has mutually transformed the lives of Red Raider and host communities around the world.”
Founded in 1946, Texas Tech University describes the Fulbright Program as an international academic exchange designed to build understanding, support, and peaceful relationships between the peoples of the United States and other countries.
