(KRON) — Thanks to a generous $50,000 grant, the East Bay American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is working with the California All Animals Program (CA4AA) to prevent pet surrenders.

The entire $50,000 amount will be donated to the East Bay SPCA's Humane Advocacy Program, with most of the money specifically going to Hold for Home, an emergency boarding program for pets whose parents are in short-term crisis. H4H)” program.
The goal of this program is to provide pet owners, regardless of their financial situation, time to focus on stabilizing the current crisis and ultimately reuniting with their pets.
While pet parents have time to get their footing, SPCA Humane Advocacy (HA) acts as the pet's case manager until owner and pet can be reunited. HA can store animals for up to 4 weeks.
The East Bay SPCA removes financial barriers for low-income residents who have had to surrender their pets and keeps them with their families. They do this by waiving purchase fees and providing essential pet supplies.
“From staffing costs to program expenses, every grant dollar goes toward making a meaningful difference in the lives of people and pets,” said Sandra Murrew of the East Bay SPCA.
In addition to financial assistance, the East Bay SPCA said necessary supplies will be provided to assist pet owners in need.
