[Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for FBI Season 6 Episode 6 “Unforeseen.”]
F.B.I. “'' doesn't delve too often into the agents' personal lives, but it does take the time to delve into Maggie's (Missy Peregrym) current arc: motherhood, in a fitting way. But then tragedy strikes.
Maggie has talked to her friend and former co-worker Jessica (Charlotte Sullivan) about becoming a mother, and during her annual review, she tells her boss Isobel (Alana de la Garza): I don't know if I'll do it or not. I want to. A big part of me wants to, and that's a lot. I mean, just getting pregnant, not to mention the motherhood part. ” Whatever decision she makes, Maggie needs Isabel's support.
This case will then be prioritized. A man is killing people with ricin modified with cyanide. (It reminds Maggie of sarin gas.) After the second victim is attacked, Maggie chases and fights the culprit (nearly getting sprayed herself), but loses him. After that, Maggie and OA (Ziko Zaki) have no choice but to wait for an ambulance, but it's too late. When it becomes clear that they are looking for eco-terrorists, they bring in Jessica, who is a counter-terrorist.
Maggie confesses to a friend that she's “not at all sure I'm ready for all the stress and uncertainty” that both IVF and motherhood will mean. “Okay. I want to be in control, but that doesn't work,” Jessica tells her.
This case leads to Hudson University (a Dick Wolf classic) and the university's TA, where they run into trouble when Maggie, OA, and Jessica track him down. While Maggie and OA pursue TA, Jessica searches his apartment and other agents find her on the ground. They couldn't touch her cunt because her cunt might be exposed, so they covered her cunt before carrying her out.
Good news? She was not exposed. The bad news? It seems like Jessica isn't just tired as her daughter keeps waking her up and keeping her awake at night. Instead, she felt dizzy, her head was throbbing, and her blood pressure dropped, so her doctor ran tests and discovered a mild aneurysm. She must name an emergency contact and temporary guardian for her daughter Ella, as she must undergo her exploratory surgery. “Whatever you need,” Maggie tells her. She assures her friend that she will be fine because she is young and healthy.
Maggie tells her that she will arrive as soon as possible, but first she has to continue with the case. TA is in custody and his partner gives Maggie no choice but to shoot him before she and OA chase him and kill the next victim, but then another ricin attack happen. Maggie arrives at the hospital only after the case is solved and another person in the eco-terror cell (a university professor) is stopped. Jessica is still in surgery and Maggie is sitting with his daughter waiting. Ella was asleep when the doctor joined Maggie and told her the shocking news that Jessica didn't make it. Maggie steadies herself before kneeling in front of his friend's daughter.
Remember, she is Ella's (temporary) guardian. That doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be permanent, but Maggie is exploring motherhood…
