The event will incorporate insights and recommendations from key documents such as the World Mental Health Report, Transforming Mental Health for All, and Chapter 7 of the WHO Comprehensive Plan of Action for Mental Health. The focus will be on “Reinventing and Extending Care for Impact.” 2013-2030”, he aligns with his six strategic courses of action outlined by PAHO to improve mental health and suicide prevention in the Americas region. This work is particularly relevant to the first strategic policy, “Building mental health leadership, governance and multisectoral partnerships to integrate mental health into all policies,'' and the second strategic policy, “Community availability.'' , improve accessibility, and quality.” We provide service-based services for mental health conditions and support the promotion of deinstitutionalization. ”

2. Promote the exchange of experience in the field of community mental health, including those with experience as health professionals.
3. Share resources available to develop community-based mental health services that protect and promote human rights in mental health.

Unmet mental health needs in the Americas are a significant cause of morbidity and mortality, impacting the health, social, and economic well-being of those affected, their families, friends, and communities. It's having a serious impact. In the field of mental health, people with psychosocial disabilities often do not have access to services that respect their rights and dignity. As a result, individuals frequently express dissatisfaction with current services, leaving them feeling hopeless and powerless due to their inability to meet their needs or provide them with the support they need to live fulfilling lives in their communities. It is connected to the feeling.
With the aim of improving the quality of care and protecting the rights of mental health conditions and individuals with psychosocial, intellectual or cognitive disabilities, PAHO/WHO is organizing a year-long webinar series, “Mental health in the Americas''. Foundation for Change”. 2024. The first webinar will focus on rebuilding and expanding community-based mental health care, understanding that mental health transformation requires strengthening community care for everyone in need. This includes an integrative approach that moves away from psychiatric institutions and integrates mental health as an integral part of primary health care.
