ALTOONA – The Altoona Symphony Orchestra is pleased to announce a concert entitled “Italian Night with the Symphony Orchestra” at the Historic Mishler Theater in downtown Altoona on April 13th at 7:30 p.m. The concert will feature vocalists Bonnie Katzforth-Huber (Penn State Altoona professor) and Brandis Adjaye, as well as IUP's Chorale, conducted by Dr. Craig Dennison.
Led by music director and conductor Maestro Nick Palmer, this concert celebrates the vocal and instrumental music of Italian composers such as Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, Poncelli, and Vivaldi. Featuring guest vocalists and choral ensembles, we celebrate the beauty of opera with selections from masterpieces such as Gianni's Schitch, Allegeri's Italian, and Madama Butterfly. The orchestra also appears in Ottorino Respighi's haunting Pines of Rome.
This performance is made possible through the generosity of the Altoona Symphony Orchestra, the Wolf Kuhn Foundation, and Steve and Nancy Sheets.
Tickets are $35 for adults and $12 for students (plus box office fee) and can be purchased from the Mishler Box Office by calling 814-944-9434 or visiting https://mishlertheatre.vbotickets.com/events.
