It was hard to resist the charm of Elvie, Honey and Tracy Saturday at Pet Valu on Niagara Stone Road in Virgil Saturday.
The friend's three cats hung out at the store that day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with Niagara-on-the-Lake Cat Rescue volunteers Carol Sheremetta and Kathy Spence. People were eager to help find a home for the fur. .
The snow that fell overnight may have slowed traffic through the store a little slower than usual, but Sheremetta and Spence were on hand to answer questions and fall hopelessly in love with the cats. They were on hand to hand out adoption applications to potential people.
Elvie loved being cuddled by Carol, who described her as perfect for a one-cat family. She says Elvie is quiet, affectionate and friendly, but she doesn't always get along with other cats.
Still, the 3-year-old had no trouble sharing his cage with a black-and-white beauty named Tracy that day. Spence said Tracy did not enjoy spending time at her store on Saturday. She tried to get her to come out and pose for the camera and it showed. She is 3 year old Tracy loves other cats and she is usually playful and active.
Honey, the youngest of the trio at 6 months old, was ready to greet customers near the front of the checkout counter. The smooth white 6-month-old kitten was described as a playful kitten and she was not shy when approached.
All three cats are up for adoption through NOTL Cats, a volunteer-based rescue organization in the Niagara region that specializes in small cats.
