abuse and praise Shout out to all the dog owners who let their dogs off leash outside of the wonderful multi-acre fenced off-leash area at Magnuson Park. We salute all law-abiding citizens who use off-leash areas for their dogs.
rave For the hundreds of us who were stranded at Seattle Tuck Airport the other night when our train broke down. The people were very kind, especially to older people like me. No one complained. We had all resigned ourselves to the idea that the staff would do their best to resolve our train problems and find our way to the main terminal, baggage claim, or connecting flight. Several young people helped us push and carry our carry-on bags, and one elderly person helped us stand up after having to sit down for a while. I was so proud of all the people who chatted, helped, and stayed positive for over 3 hours as we took the bus to the main terminal. A great example of fellowship.
abusive language For all couples who want to enjoy each other's affection in a restaurant. Prolonged kisses and sniffles may be fun for you, but not for the other person who has to see your embarrassing appearance. We appreciate your understanding and consideration. All the other customers in the restaurant (and the service staff too!) are disgusted by your inappropriate behavior. A restaurant during dinner time is not the time and place for such an intimate relationship.
rave To the kind taxi dispatcher. Recently we returned from Texas after burying my husband's mother and took a taxi from the airport. In addition to our luggage, there was a small tote bag with family photos and memorabilia from my mother-in-law. Unfortunately, our small bag was left in the trunk of the taxi, resulting in us being stranded. I used my best detective skills and was able to talk to the nice person in charge of dispatching my ride. The person offered to post his APB on the driver's group's chat board. And they promised to call me back anyway. They were people of their word. When the bag was found and returned, I received a phone call and was given detailed instructions on how to find the office where the bag was reunited and the irreplaceable contents inside.
abusive language The other day, I saw an advertisement posted on the back of a bus. My child read out “Slow the Flock” on the display in the back of the bus, and there were several seagulls perched on the 25 mph sign. “What does that mean, Dad?'' “It's a play on the expression “nogure.'' “Dad, what does yaoi mean?'' “Nogure is a word you wouldn't use in polite society.'' “Why are there vulgar words written on the back of the bus?” Both the person who came up with this and the person who approved this as a banner should reconsider.
rave To the stranger who dropped my lost driver's license in my mailbox. It was my mistake to not carry it in a more secure pocket when walking.
