Cowboy Tennis defeats Texas Tech 4-1

Lubbock, Texas – twenty five^thThe No. 1 ranked Oklahoma State men's tennis team defeated conference foe Texas Tech 4-1 on Saturday at McLeod Tennis Center.

The Pokes improved to 15-4 overall and 2-0 in Big 12 action. The win also extended OSU's winning streak to four.

In their first match as a pair, Eric Schiessle and Francisco Pini earned his first win over Texas Tech's Lorenzo Esquisi and Ole Wallin, 6-3, giving the Pokes a slight advantage.

The Red Raiders responded with 41.^centNo. 1 ranked Piotr Pawlak and Sebastien Abboud beat OSU. alex garcia and tyler zink6-4.

After a close match tied 3-3, 4-4, 5-5, TTU's Reid Collier and Takeyasu Sekiguchi dropped in the court 2 matchup. Isaac Becroft and Alessio Basil7-6(4) in tiebreak.

OSU then bounced back and won all six of the first sets in singles play, including tiebreak wins between Zink and Garcia.

Pini downed Sekiguchi 6-2, 6-2 and scored a poke, marking his third straight win in singles action.

Schiesl defeated Nixa Arsic 6-3, 6-3 to give OSU a 2-1 lead. A minute later, OSU's No. 70 Becroft beat Collier 6-4, 7-5. He improved to 14-1 on the season.

Moments later, No. 77 Garcia clinched the game for the Pokes with a 7-6 (4), 6-1 win over Texas Tech Esquisi.

Zink, wearing No. 18, had a tough match winning the first set tie-break 11-9, but the match was undecided in the second set. Basil's match was undecided on court 5 in the third set.

The Cowboys return to action on Thursday against UCF in Orlando, Florida at 6pm CT.
